McPherson College’s softball team is back at the .500 mark in the KCAC as it won a suspended game with Saint Mary here Thursday, 9-6.

That gave Mac a split of the doubleheader that originated on March 26.

The Bulldogs were in dire straits, trailing 6-3 after 5 1/2 innings. But they exploded for sixth runs in the sixth, then ace pitcher Christie Betker shut down the Spires in the seventh.

Judith Salazar homered and drove in five runs to pace the Bulldogs, now 9-9 in the KCAC and 23-21 overall. Mac was just 9-39 last year.

Reigning KCAC Player of the Week Chelsea Conrad added two hits.

The Bulldogs go on the road to Lindsborg on Saturday to play Bethany, with first pitch set for 1:00.
