EL DORADO — McPherson High’s girls swimming team has turned into a model of consistency.

The Bullpups continued their superb season on Friday by taking second place in the El Dorado Invitational, finishing only behind 5A power Newton. MHS scored 484 points to close the gap on the Railers, who scored 532. The other six teams didn’t come close to approaching 300.

“The girls swam really well today,” MHS coach Abby Bradstreet said. “They continue to impress me at every meet that we go to with the effort they put into their races. They are continuing to drop time and it is exciting to see most of them having to re-set personal goals because they’ve already met the ones we made at the beginning of the season.”

As usual, there were some outstanding performances, Bradstreet said.

“Our medley and 200 free relays did amazing today, both earning first-place finishes as well as Megan Cutting and Maggie Leaf individually,” she said. “However, we have a very strong middle team and that is helping us be so successful at meets. In each race we can only have three girls and two relays scoring points. Eight out of the 11 events we are able to participate in ended up with our point scores all placing in the Top 10. That is incredible and I am so proud of them for their hard work and support they have for one another.”

MHS goes to Hutchinson on Tuesday.
