McPherson College’s record-setting softball season continues to get better and better.

The Bulldogs celebrated Senior Day Sunday at Wall Park by sweeping arch-rival Bethany College in a pair of intense, low-scoring games.

Mac captured the opener 3-1, then completed the sweep with a 3-2 success in the nightcap. The Bulldogs, who already have broken the school record for victories, are 25-21 on the season and 11-9 in KCAC. If they can win one of their two games Tuesday at Tabor, they’ll finish with a winning conference record after being dead last a year ago with a 4-18 KCAC record and 9-39 overall mark.

In Game 1, Christie Betker was nails on the mound by spinning a five-hitter and Mac scored two runs in the second inning for all the support she needed. Betker did not have a walk nor a strikeout in the game, needing just 92 pitches.

Judith Salazar drove in two of the three Mac runs. Jessica Knoeber had three hits, while Jessica Jones, Kortney J0nes and Betker all had two hits.

In Game 2, the Bulldogs were down 2-0, but scored a run in the fourth and two in the fifth to pull out the win.

Ali Smith had two hits and two RBIs for the Bulldogs. Kylee Martin, the second of three Mac pitchers, was the winner and Betker had the save.

With the losses, Bethany is now 7-13 in the KCAC and 19-28 overall.
