The Traffic Stop —04/25/2017
Maximum Speed Limits; (STO #33 and KSA 8-1558 find the exact wording here: tinyurl.com/lqxh63m)
Loose meaning: You’re no doubt painfully aware of the road construction happening on East Kansas Avenue. This is a project initiated by the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) and scheduled for completion this summer. KDOT decreased speed limits in the work zone from 45 mph to 35 mph last year. An area designated as a Work Zone has doubled fines. This can be a significant cost to careless drivers. Give the construction employees a “brake” and SLOW DOWN. Remember in a congested area where traffic flow is restricted SAFETY is the number one factor and it is in your hands. When motorists are alert, obey traffic control devices such as signs and pavement markings, maintain the posted speed limit, and pay attention to traffic patterns, it enhances everyone's safety.
Right now, there are many opportunities for drivers to be WORK ZONE AWARE in McPherson. Drive with caution EVERY time you see ORANGE. Speeding in the City of McPherson is a moving violation. The MINIMUM fine is $60 and Municipal Court costs are $75.50 which when doubled for a construction zone means more than $190 for the LEAST expensive citation and fines climb as quickly as your speed.
Each Tuesday, as activity permits, McPherson KS Police Department addresses a topic dealing with traffic enforcement in the City of McPherson. The Traffic Section of Patrol Bureau organizes this feature. Please phone one of our Officers at our non-emergency number: (620)245-1200, if you have a question, which requires an immediate answer.
