Baseball Eagles sweep Ellinwood

ELLINWOOD — Canton-Galva’s baseball team had the bats going in both games Tuesday against Ellinwood to record its first sweep of the year.

C-G was a 12-2 winner behind the solid pitching of Reed Wiens. He gave up only three hits and no earned runs, while fanning four.

Devyn Elkins had a big game by going 3 for 4 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Nick Pearson added two hits, one a double.

C-G erupted for eight runs in the first inning and had it on cruise control from there.

Canton-Galva also was a 10-6 winner, scoring nine runs in its final three at-bats after being behind 5-1.

Wiens was 3 for 4 with a double and three runs scored. Nick Pearson added two hits. Richard Peterson and Hunter Pearson knocked in two runs apiece.

Jordan Gagnebin was the winner in relief, throwing three innings and allowing no earned runs.

The Eagles are now 3-5 on the season.
