It would have been easy for Central Christian College’s softball team to check it in after its 0-27 start to the season.

But with a split here Wednesday against Ecclesia College, Central is now 9-7 over its last 16 games.

The Tigers’ win came in the nightcap, 6-3, behind yet another strong pitching effort by Kasi Kraus. Evelyn Masonyet provided the thunders with a homer and three RBIs, while Kraus helped her own cause by going 2 for 3. A three-run third inning turned the tide in the Tigers’ favor.

Ecclesia had won the opener 10-5, using a pair of three-run innings to take control. Rayne Wright homered and drove in two runs for Central.

The 9-34 Tigers host Sterling on Friday.
