The paintings of Britny Arnett will be on display in the McPherson Public Library meeting room from May 1 - June 25, with an artist's reception on Sunday, May 21, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Arnett’s show “Rediscovering the Fun” is a collection of acrylic paintings created in late 2016 and early 2017.
Arnett is influenced by many artists, such as Minna Sundberg, Ejiwa Ebenebe, Nathan Fowkes, Lorelay Bove, Brittney Lee, Noah Bradley, Terryl Whitlatch, and Aaron Blaise. These artists and the work they do both inspired and intimidated Arnett, until she learned to treat painting like a fun and joyful experiment in the unknown.
“I let go of trying to make it perfect,” Arnett states, “and found the joy in painting again. Rediscovering the fun in the work was crucial. I hope when one sees any one of these experiments, that they themselves might be inspired to try something new and rediscover the fun of it.”
