TOPEKA — McPherson College’s tennis teams need to adopt “Sweet Home Alabama” as their theme song.

The women are heading to Mobile, Ala., for the fourth year in a row for the NAIA National Championships, while the men will be making a third straight appearance after both won the KCAC Postseason Tournament on Saturday.

The Mac men, ranked No. 21 in the country, turned back arch-rival Bethany College 5-1, while the 23rd-ranked women blitzed Southwestern, 5-0.

The Mac men led 2-1 after doubles, but won the first three singles matches that were finished, at which time the match was over.

The Mac women went 3-0 in doubles, then won the first two singles matches to end their day in the minimum amount of time.

"I couldn't be more proud of both teams," Mac first-year head coach Dustin Wheeler said. "They work extremely hard on and off the court and they do it as a team. I grew up in a small family and a small town. Being able to coach these great kids from all over the world is a blessing and I'll always be thankful for this opportunity."

The national tournament is May 16-20.
