Softball Swathers split with Larned

HESSTON — The Hesston Swathers took Game 2 13-7 from Larned on Friday to earn a split of a softball doubleheader.

Larned had won the first game, 19-14.

• Larned 19, Hesston 14 — Larned scored in six of seven innings and pounded out 22 hits to win the opener. Hesston’s big inning was the third when it scored six runs.

The Swathers lost despite 19 hits. Alaina Dunlavy had a monstrous game in defeat with five RBIs on three hits. Kinsley Miller, Emily Shirley and Rylie Schilling also had three hits.

Dunlavy and Emma Krehbiel pounded triples.

• Hesston 13, Larned 7 — Hesston jumped out to a 10-4 lead after three innings and played on even terms the rest of the way.

The Swather bats stayed hot. Dunlavy, Miller and Jada Mininger all collected three hits. Kyler Evancho was the winning pitcher.
