LYONS — Outstanding pitching was on full display Tuesday when Lyons and Smoky Valley hooked up for a baseball twinbill.

The Lions won both one-run games, 3-2 and 4-3.

In the first game, the Vikings had a 2-1 lead until the fifth when the Lions plated two runs. Ryan Weldy threw a great game in defeat for the Vikings. Garrett Forsberg was 2 for 3 to lead the Smoky Valley offense.

Game 2 was tied at 2-all until the Lions scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth to key the win. Austin Lustfield was the tough-luck loser for the Vikings. He also had two hits, while Forsberg and Brett Heitschmidt contributed doubles.

Smoky Valley is now 4-11, with several of the losses being by one or two runs. The Vikings host Larned on Thursday.
