LYONS — Lyons’ softball team entered its doubleheader with Smoky Valley on Tuesday with just two losses on the season.
It now has four.
Smoky Valley’s superb pitching led the Vikings to a quality sweep, 4-3 and 5-1.
In Game 1, Jordan Otto evened her season record at 4-4 as she scattered six hits. The Vikes trailed on two separate occasions, but scored two runs in the top of the fifth to grab the lead for good.
Offensive leaders were Kira Haxton (two hits), Katie Bellah (three hits, three runs), Otto (three hits, two RBIs) and Lindsey Gerlach (two hits).
In the second game, Megan Sample is now 5-3 after stifling the Lions on just four hits. Smoky Valley did its damage early with three runs in the first and all five runs before three innings were completed.
Jacque Hulse had two hits, one a triple, two runs and an RBI to pace the Vikings. Otto, Sample and Addison Haiden all drove in a run.
Smoky Valley improved to 9-7 and hosts Larned on Thursday as the Vikings are nearing the end of their regular season.
