HESSTON – It appears Hesston High has a new head football coach.

According to Hesston Athletic Director Clint Stoppel today, Tyson Bauerle will be tabbed to take over for Clint Rider, who recently resigned after taking the head job at Class 6A Blue Valley Northwest.

Bauerle has been the head coach at Sterling. His Black Bears were 6-4 this past season.

Stoppel said his approval is expected at Monday’s school board meeting.

The Swathers are coming off a 10-4 season, taking second place in Class 3A after losing 48-42 in overtime to Rossville in one of the greatest championship games in state football history.
