GREAT BEND — McPherson College’s upstart baseball team hung tough with No. 2 seed Tabor for a good deal of Friday’s loser’s bracket game in the KCAC Tournament, but the Bluejays eventually blew it open for a 16-2 victory.
Mac broke the school record for wins in a season as it finished the year 24-30 in Bryan Moses’ first year as head coach.
Mac, the No. 6 seed, was down only 3-1 when Tabor scored three times in the fifth, then tore a hole in the game with seven in the sixth.
The Bulldogs were held to five hits, all singles. Jackson Goodmiller and Desmond Grayson knocked in runs for Mac.
Moses loses some good seniors, most notable Dylan Klava and Blake Ware. But the future is bright for a program on the rise.
