AVCTL girls soccer teams simply can’t compete with McPherson High.

For the second straight year, the Bullpups stormed through the league undefeated and basically untested as they wrapped up Division III-IV play Monday with a 10-0 rout of Augusta.

“During these seven league games we have scored 54 goals while only allowing 3 goals against,” MHS coach Chris Adrian said. “While all that is really nice, this team is not getting overconfident. We are well aware that there are some really good teams that are going to challenge us next week and that’s what we are focusing on.”

The Bullpups have won their last five games to improve to 12-3 and almost all of them have been similar to Monday’s result. They finish regular-season play Thursday at Salina Central.

“This team is clicking at just the right time,” Adrian said. “Our last few games have given several girls the confidence boost they needed and it’s resulting in some great team soccer. We played some nice wall passes tonight and moved the ball extremely well.”

Claire Hedlund, who recently had a four-goal game, scored a hat trick to lead the Bullpups. Aislinn Hughes scored two goals while five players scored one each—Alayna Wallace, Jessie Kynaston, Hannah Hageman, Mary Ann Wurm and Anna Nason. Wallace had three assists, Hughes two and Rylee Schrader one.

“Hannah Hageman is really stepping up in the midfield, which is allowing Alayna Wallace to attack more,” Adrian said. “It was 7-0 after the first half and then we finished the game with about 25 minutes to go off a beautiful header from Anna Nason on a corner kick.”

The JVs were a 4-0 winner as Natalie Hedlund scored two goals, and Raegan Harger and  Nason had one apiece. Hannah Dossett, Kaliah Tice, Stacey Pham and Wurm each had an assist.
