HILLSBORO — Smoky Valley’s softball team put the finishing touches on a splendid 13-7 regular season on Tuesday by winning two games from Hillsboro in opposite fashion.

The close opener went the Vikes’ way 12-11 as they had to turn back several challenges from the Trojans.

Jordan Otto was in the circle for Smoky Valley and improved her record to 6-4.

The Vikes swung some heavy bats. Offensive leaders were Katie Bellah (three hits including a homer and double and three runs scored), Jacque Hulse (4 for 5, two doubles a homer, four runs scored and five RBIs), Otto (two hits, two RBIs), Megan Sample (two hits, one a double, two RBIs) and Lindsey Gerlach (two hits).

The Vikings’ bats battered the Trojans’ pitching staff in Game 2, a 20-2 rout.

Megan Sample took advantage of all that offense to improve to 7-3 on the year as she scattered seven hits. Smoky exploded for 11 runs in the fourth inning and six in the fifth.

Leaders were Kira Haxton (two RBIs), Bellah (two runs), Hulse (4 for 4, four runs scored, a homer, double and six RBIs), Otto (two hits, three runs), Sample (two hits, three RBIs), Madi Mitchell (three hits, one a homer, two runs, three RBIs), Gerlach (3 for 3 with a double, two runs) and Addison Haiden (two hits, two runs).

Hulse was amazingly 8 of 9 for the day with two homers, three doubles and 11 RBIs.

The Vikings head to Clay Center Tuesday for regional play.
