ELINWOOD – Caleb Frye pitched the second no-hitter in Moundridge history on Friday when he stopped Ellinwood, 19-0.

All that stood between Frye and a perfect game was a hit batter as he fanned seven and walked none in the five-inning game.

“Caleb did a great job throwing strikes and our defense did the rest,” MHS coach Lynn Eichelberger said.

It was an offensive feast for the Wildcats, who pounded out 15 hits. Leaders were Noah Eichelberger (two hits), Dylan Sugars (two hits), Peyton Fast (three RBIs), Chris Leddy (three hits, three RBIs), Anthony Otte (three hits) and Remington Creed (three hits, two RBIs).

Game 2 also went five innings as the Wildcats strolled to a 12-2 win. Josh Knight started on the mound and Eichelberger finished up.

Leading the offense were Sugars (two hits, two RBIs), Leddy (three hits), Fast (two RBIs), Creed (two hits) and Hunter Emerson (two hits).

“We manufactured a few runs in the early innings by bunting and making Ellinwood play defense,” Eichelberger said.
