LINDSBORG — Bethany College plays three of its first four football games at home, according to the 2017 schedule released last week, as well as six of its 10 for the season.
The Swedes, under third-year coach Paul Hubbard, open at home Sept. 2 against Briar Cliff as part of the KCAC-GPAC Series.
After an open date, the Swedes open KCAC play hosting McPherson College, which recently has been the final game of the season.
After a road game Sept. 23 at Bethel, the Swedes return home to face Ottawa on Sept. 30 as they play only one road game in the month.
The rest of the schedule:
Oct. 7 — at Saint Mary
Oct. 14 — Sterling
Oct. 21 — at Southwestern
Oct. 28 — Kansas Wesleyan
Nov. 4 — Friends
Nov. 11 — at Tabor
The Swedes were 3-8 last year, but wound up having to forfeit two games for the use of an ineligible player. The actual win that counted came in the final week against McPherson College on a 46-yard field goal by James Augusta on the game’s final play.
