Hesston High golfers make state

EUREKA — Hesston High’s golf team is moving on to state.

The Swathers took second place on Monday in the Class 3A Regional, finishing two shots behind Cheney.

The Cardinals shot a 344 to the Swathers’ 346.

Not one golfer broke 80 in the tough conditions. The Swathers’ Grant Brenneman tied for fifth with an 83, two shots off the pace.

Other scores for Hesston were Tanner Bachman (86), Jordan Roth (87), Tyler Bachman (90), Dylan Prouty (94) and Kitt Regher (99).

Independence Country Club will be the site of the Class 3A State Tournament, with Fredonia the host school.
