CLAY CENTER — The normally robust Smoky Valley softball bats couldn’t get untracked on Tuesday as Chapman upset the Vikings 8-2 in the Class 4A Division II Regional Tournament.
Smoky Valley had entered the game as the No. 2 seed, but fell behind 3-0 right out of the gates and could never recover.
The Vikings had seven hits, three of those by Katie Bellah — one of them a double. Kira Haxton added two hits. Bellah and Jacque Hulse had RBIs.
The Vikings ended the year 13-8.
