MOUNDRIDGE — It will be an area showdown tonight for the Class 2-1A regional softball title as Moundridge takes on Canton-Galva after both teams advanced to the finals after victories on Tuesday.
Game time is 5:00.
• Moundridge 12, Hillsboro 6 — The Wildcats produced four innings of three runs each to cruise by the Trojans.
Moundridge pounded out 13 hits, including three by Ellen Durst. Coming up with two each were Chelsey Knight, Jadah Moore and Zizi Sebrant. Keira Sebrant had the game’s biggest hit with a homer.
Moore was the winning pitcher.
“This was a great win for us as we move into the championship game tomorrow,” Moundridge coach Aaron Annis said. “As a team we kept on fighting. Hillsboro would score a run or two and we would bounce right back and score three runs in an inning. Jadah Moore pitched a solid game, only giving up a walk. I thought Hillsboro’s pitcher did a nice job keeping us off balance throughout the game. But our hitting was on point today. We had a little hitch in our giddy up.”
• Canton-Galva 8, Inman 5 — Three runs in the third, two in the fifth and two in the seventh propelled the Eagles into the championship game.
Canton-Galva pounded out 12 hits, four by Autumn Colgin and three by Jayci Mastre. Mastre drove in three runs.
Taylor Everett picked up the win for C-G. She also homered to help her own cause.
