Jacob Lackey will be returning to the scene of perhaps his greatest triumph.

The McPherson High senior will tee off on Monday in the Class 4A State Golf Tournament at Wamego Country Club. He is scheduled to be in the 9 a.m. group that is starting on hole No. 9.

Lackey advanced to state by placing fourth in the Class 4A Regional Tournament this past Monday in Clay Center. He shot a 71.

Lackey should have fond memories of Wamego as last year he won regional medalist honors with a sizzling 67, which is a tremendous score for a such a tough layout. He has signed a letter of intent to play at the University of Central Oklahoma next season.

Lackey has been paired with Davis Joseph of Andover Central, Magnus Van Hoecke of Paola and Jackson Vorbeck of Tonganoxie.

The feature group of the day goes off at 10:50 and includes the four regional winners from last Monday — Mason Ahlberg of Clay Center, Peyton Austin of Rose Hill, Garin Ihrig of Goodland and Nicholas King of Fort Scott.
