BUHLER — McPherson High’s track and field team will be busy at next week’s State Outdoor Championships after qualifying a healthy number of performers during Friday’s regional.

“We had a great regional showing in some bad weather,” said MHS coach Jace Pavlovich, as the meet was delayed by a tornado warning. “Our kids had the right frame of mind and we were able to qualify 21 entrants. Our girls had a strong team showing and our guys continued to break personal records. We had all three girl 100 hurdlers qualify, which is really tough to do.  We look forward to another great week of practice heading into this weekend.”

Most of the qualifiers came on the girls’ side.

• Elle Barrett — long jump (17-5), triple jump (35-10)

• Kenzie Goering — 200 (27.92), long jump (16-9), triple jump (35-1)

• Emma Ruddle — 100 (12.97), 100 hurdles (15.07)

• Kamryn Collins — 400 (1:03.38)

• Megan Eisenbarth — discus (98-10)

• Morgan Howard — 100 hurdles (15.56)

• Avery Howard — 100 hurdles (16.28)

• 4 x 100 (Barrett, M. Howard, Ruddle and Rilynn Anderson), 50.56

On the boys’ side, Tyson Stites in the 110 hurdles (15.49), Andric McGill in the long jump (21-6 1/4) and the 4 x 100 relay team of Stites, McGill, Talyn Huff and Jace Kinnamon (43.94) moved on.
