Hesston golfers take 2nd at state

INDEPENDENCE — For the second straight year on Monday at Independence Country Club, the Hesston High boys golf team took second place in the Class 3A State Tournament and for the second straight year the Swathers finished second to Fredonia.

Fredonia shot a 341 to edge Hesston by one stroke. Cimarron was two strokes behind Hesston in third with 344.

The Swathers' Grant Brenneman was fourth with an 81 and Jordan Roth tied for seventh with an 84. 

Other Hesston scores were Tanner Bachman (88), Kitt Regehr (89), Dylan Prouty (90) and Tyler Bachman (93).

Jacob Huffaker of Southeast of Saline was medalist with a 6-over-par 77, the only player in the field to break 80.
