The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) will work with its broadcast partners to test the Kansas AMBER Alert Emergency Alert System (EAS) on Tuesday afternoon.

The annual statewide EAS test will take place Tuesday, May 23 at 1:50 p.m. To perform the test, the KBI and its broadcast partners, WIBW-TV and WIBW Radio, will deploy a test message to all Kansas broadcasters in order to ensure the EAS relays that transmit a child abduction message during an AMBER alert activation are working as efficiently as possible.

This annual test is particularly important this year since the Kansas AMBER Alert program is making a minor technological change in how the EAS message will be initiated during an AMBER alert. This change will now include a partnership with WIBW-TV. The KBI is grateful to all of its external partners for their commitment to the AMBER Alert Program, but is especially appreciative of WIBW-TV for its new participation in deploying the EAS message.
