GULF SHORES, Ala. — Three McPherson College competitors took part in the marathon race on Saturday in the NAIA National Track and Field Championships.
On the women’s side, McPherson High graduate Lauren Wankum was 16th in 3:32.14.80.
The Mac men had two competitors. Jonathan Dominguez completed the 26.2-mile course in 3:04:03.20 to finish 26th. Kurt Katzdorn did not finish.
The McPherson men completed the championships tied for 34th place in the team standings on the strength of Brandt Wolters' runner-up finish in the javelin throw on Thursday. The Bulldog women did not score a team point.
On Friday, Mac’s Jasmine Helms was 16th in the triple jump in 37-1 1/4. Hunter Sury ran in the 100 meter prelims and turned in a time of 10.97 and failed to advance. He wound up in 36th place. He had entered the nationals with a best time of 10.66.
It was another good year for the Mac thinclads, including the men’s team that won the KCAC championship.
