The McPherson Recreation Commission, in conjunction with Turkey Creek Golf Course, has a couple of programs available to drive the sport of youth golf.

The Junior Golf Camp, under the direction of new Turkey Creek program coordinator Treg Fawl, will have two sessions.

The dates for June are June 6, 8, 20, 22, 27 and 29. The July dates are July 6, 11, 13, 18, 20, 25.

For ages 8-11, the times for the sessions are 9 to 10 a.m. For 12-and-over, the times are from 10 to 11.

The cost is $46 for USD 418 residents and $51 for non-residents.

The focus is on putting, driving and chipping. Golfers should bring their own clubs, but those that don’t have clubs will have them provided. Each camper receives a T-shirt.

A PGA-based program introducing and exposing the game of golf to children is now being implemented at McPherson Middle School and the grade schools. This summer’s program will allow children to gain basic golf knowledge.

The “SNAG” program will be held June 21, 28, July 5 and 12 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Turkey Creek.  This is for boys and girls ages 4-7 and is from 9 to 10 a.m. each session.

The cost is $31 for USD 418 residents and $36 for non-residents.

To register, call the MRC office at 241-0363 or call Fawl at 241-8530 or 620-242-7243.
