McPherson College’s volleyball team achieved an historic turnaround season in 2016 under first-year coach Jessica Cleveland.

The Bulldogs broke the school record with 21 wins and hope to continue the success this fall as they have released their 2017 schedule.

The season opens Aug. 19 with the annual Red and Black Scrimmage. Another scrimmage against Hesston College follows on Aug. 23, before the regular season begins Aug. 25 with a match at Stephens College. The Bulldogs remain in Missouri the following day, facing Central Methodist University and Harris-Stowe State University in a triangular at Fayette, Mo.

McPherson opens KCAC play Aug. 30 hosting Sterling.

In an attempt to maximize available dates of competition for member schools, the KCAC will hold its inaugural Fall Fling Oct. 13-14 at the newly renovated Hutchinson Sports Arena. The two-day event will feature all 12 KCAC schools playing four league matches at a neutral site.

"We are looking forward to an extensive weekend so close to home," Cleveland said.

The KCAC has also made adjustments to its annual postseason tournament, which will be held Nov. 9-11 at the Hutchinson Sports Arena. The top eight teams following the regular season will be seeded and placed into two four-team pools. The top two teams in each pool will then advance to a single-elimination tournament to determine the league tournament champion.

Cleveland was excited about the change in format.

"This allows us to stay at a neutral site and play all postseason rounds during a three-day period," she said.
