The Law Enforcement Torch Run was a success on Friday, June 2nd.
Led by McPherson Law Enforcement, McPherson County Sheriff’s Department and the McPherson Police Department, participantys gatherered at 1331 N. Main St. and carried an Olympic torch down Main St. to the plaza where they held a short ceremony including a speech from Mayor Tom Brown. After the ceremony, the runners continued on down Main until reaching 319 S. Main St.
The run is an awareness campaign designed to get the community involved with the special Olympics program in the area.
Sheriff Montagne, Detective Sherwood, and McPherson PD Captain Martens went to the Special Olympics main event at Maize South High School to help hand out metals for the Special Olympics Summer Games.
