Duty Upon Striking Unattended Vehicle or Other Property; (STO #26 & KSA 8-1605 Find the exact wording here: tinyurl.com/y93g4h86)

When you're involved in a collision –no matter how small the scrape, you must STOP, STAY, & MAKE EVERY EFFORT to locate the owner and notify him/her of any damage done. You must provide your name, address, and vehicle registration to the owner AND notify the nearest law enforcement agency. In 2016, there were more than 270 collisions in McPherson. Sixty were "hit and run" (where the driver fails to report). Most “hit and run” collisions occur in parking lots.

The golden rule of doing unto others as you would like them to do unto you should be a big enough incentive for you, but if it isn’t, consider that many of our local businesses have video surveillance, which we solicit to use in crash investigations. In McPherson, failure to report a collision is a non-moving violation punishable by a $100 fine and $78 Municipal court cost.
