Cleveland adds 12 for Mac volleyball

A record-breaking season probably made recruiting much more enjoyable for McPherson College volleyball coach Jessica Cleveland.

Cleveland’s first season as coach resulted in Mac winning a school-record 21 matches and she cashed in on that success by recruiting a 12-member class.

Kansas and Colorado were the prime recruiting spots as Cleveland signed five players from both states, with the other two from Texas. All but two of the recruits are freshmen as Cleveland wants to have as many four-year players as she can.

"With returning 12 and bringing in 12, we will have a whole new dynamic with lots of energy and competitiveness," Cleveland said. "On their visit, each recruit fit in perfectly with the team and we are excited to see how our new team blends with the existing culture. With our strong returning base setting the bar high from last season, the new 12 recruits will continue to raise that bar and push the team to get better. We are excited to play Bulldog volleyball.”
