Jr. Legion divides with Augusta

AUGUSTA — McPherson’s Junior American Legion baseball team bounced back from its first loss of the year to earn a split with Augusta on Tuesday.

Augusta won the first game 6-2 to end McPherson’s three-game winning streak. Honestee Whittker had two hits for McPherson.

In Game 2, it was tied at 4-4 after five innings, but Post 24 erupted for nine runs in the sixth and went on for a 13-5 win. Kaleb Hoppes stroked three hits and Chandler Wiard collected three RBIs.

McPherson is now 4-1 on the year and scheduled to play at Newton in a weekend tournament.
