GREAT BEND — The McPherson 8U Lady Express finished in second place in the Chuck Kirtley Memorial Softball Tournament this past weekend.

The team went 2-0-1 in pool play, tying the Central Kansas Crushers 5-5 before knocking off Newton G2 Heat (5-4) and the Pawnee Warriors (15-5).

Jalea Thompson, Maryn Sanbo and Addysen Patrick all were awarded MVP in the three pool play games on Saturday.

The Express are undefeated in the Salina Parks and Recreation 8U Machine Pitch League.

Other team members are Kennedy Bonham, Malia Hoppes, Peyton Bonham, Rhiana Dukes, Jensyn Alexander, Denae Paine, Arnara Dossett, Carmin Pavlovich, Ashtyn Patrick and Kensley Haxton.
