NEWTON — McPherson’s Jacob Lackey, coming off his championship in the Kansas Junior Amateur Golf Tournament last week, is in the very first group on Friday at the prestigious Railer Open at Sand Creek Station.
Lackey is paired with former KU star Pete Krsnich and Jack Courington, both of Wichita. He goes off on No. 1 at 8 a.m.
For his second round, Lackey tees off with the same players on No. 10 at noon.
Lackey shot rounds of 75-71-68 to win the Junior Amateur by one stroke last week at Turkey Creek.
Because he’s playing in the Railer Open, Lackey won’t be able to attempt a defense of his McPherson City Tournament championship, which begins on Friday.
