Seat Belt Fines To Triple In Accordance With State Law

On Monday, June 26, 2017, The McPherson Police Department presented an amendment to ordinance 3227 section 182.1. The seat belt fine; with this amendment to the ordinance, the fine for a seatbelt violation will increase from $10 to $30 effective July 1st.

None of the increase will go to local law enforcement or city government, $20 from such amount shall be remitted by the judge or clerk of the municipal court to the state treasurer, in accordance with K.S.A. 75-4215, as amended.
