Taylor adds 5 for BC men's soccer

LINDSBORG — Bethany College men’s soccer coach Shane Taylor has announced the addition of five recruits for the upcoming season.

 They are Chris Fischer, Richardson, Texas; Christian Joyner-Williams, Grapevine, Texas; Michael Wick, Conroe, Texas; Julio Navarrete, Arlington, Texas; and Adrian Mahaffey, Joplin, Mo. 

• Chris Fischer — Fischer played four years of prep soccer at J.J. Pearce High School. In addition, he played on the Texas Spurs club team.

He is the son of Mike and Sarah Fischer. He maintains a 3.1 grade point average and plans to study history at Bethany.

• Christian Joyner-Williams — The defender from Union High School was a four-year team member. Along with soccer, he was an Air Force JROTC Senior Airman as well as a team captain from his sophomore year to his senior year.

He is the son of Rocky Williams and Angela Negron. He maintained a 3.0 grade point average. He will be a marketing and finance major.

Mike Wick  — Wick will be a goalie candidate.

He comes from Northwestern College, where he played for two years and started seven times. He averaged five saves per game and in high school was named defensive MVP and goalkeeper of his conference.

He is the son of Mike and Elizabeth Wick and had a 3.4 grade point average. He will major in finance.

Julio Navarette — The 5-6 dynamo graduated from Sam Houston High School where he played soccer all four years.

He is the son of Julio and Nora Navarrete. He plans to study physical therapy.

Adrian Mahaffey — Mahaffey is a rarity for Bethany in that he hails from Missouri, playing at Webb City High School.

He is the son of Dalis and Bryan Mahaffey. He plans to study game design at Bethany.

"Our coaching staff is very excited to announce the addition of this group of talented soccer student-athletes,” Taylor said. "Every year we are working hard to compete and grow better as a program. These five young men move us positively towards our goals.”
