HUTCHINSON — McPherson’s Senior American Legion received another splendid pitching performance on Saturday to blank the Kansas Cannons 5-0 in the Hutchinson Wood Bat Baseball Tournament.

Post 24 is now 3-0 in the event.

Jack Reifschneider was lights-out, allowing two hits and just two walks while fanning 12 in six shutout innings. Raine Reitsma fanned three for good measure as the pitched the final inning.

McPherson scored two runs in the second and three in the fifth. It had five hits, all singles, in the well-played game.

“Jack was very good again today on the mound,” McPherson coach Mark Reifschneider said. “We would have liked to take him out a little sooner, but we couldn't get much early run support for him. All five pitchers we have used in the tournament so far have been excellent. That is a great sign with postseason just around the corner.”

McPherson, now 12-6, continues play today.

McPherson (5) — Werries 2-0-0-0, Reiss 4-0-0-0, Myers 1-1-1-0, Kalkhorst 4-1-1-0, McDaniel 1-1-0-0, Reifschneider 2-2-1-1, Sitts 2-0-0-0, Saverino 3-0-1-1, Robl 3-0-1-1.
