USD 418 has been considering joining the Kansas Can School Redesign effort sponsored by the Kansas State Department of Education.

This effort is recruiting seven Kansas school districts that are "able and willing to completely redesign one elementary and one secondary school around the State Board's vision, outcomes and definition of a successful high school graduate."

The district has selected Eisenhower Elementary and McPherson Middle to represent USD 418 in this redesign.

In order to apply for this effort, the district must provide evidence and have approval of the following:

School board with vote

Faculty with a vote of 80%

Local KNEA support

On June 26th, 2107, the Board of Education approved the district's participation.

Through meetings with the teaching staff at Eisenhower and MMS, district leaders have garnered more the 80% support from teachers in each building

The district has requested a Letter of Support from the McPherson Education Association regarding participation in the effort.

The application will be submitted upon receipt of this Letter of Support.  The final application will be presented to the board on July 24th.
