Winners of three straight duals, the McPherson Aqua Pups head to El Dorado on Saturday for the Great Plains Swim League Championships.

The Pups started the year 0-3, but caught fire by winning their final three duals against Derby, Wellington and El Dorado.

Unfortunately for McPherson, it won’t be at full strength, according to coach Kyle Banman. Due to vacations and other commitments, the Pups will have only 36 swimmers available.

“The teams to beat will be Valley Center and Haysville,” Banman said. “They have a lot of swimmers that compete with the year-around clubs in Wichita, and on top of that they are just big teams.  Our 15-and-over boys will give them a run, as will our 10-and-under and 9-10 girls, as well as the 11-12 boys.”

Banman said the meet for McPherson will be about individual improvement as he challenges each swimmer to do their best and turn in their top times of the year.
