The media covering the Big 12 may be the only ones getting it right.

While nationally Kansas State’s football team is being picked in the second division in numerous publications, the Wildcats were tabbed No. 3 by the media that regularly cover the conference.

Oklahoma received 19 of the 32 first-place votes and totaled 303 points in voting announced Thursday. Oklahoma State, which is receiving a lot of national support, was second with 12 first-place votes with 294 points. One media correspondent gave K-State a first-place vote, leading it to 231 points.

Rounding out the upper division are Texas (213) and TCU (202).

West Virginia heads the second division with 183 points. Other totals are Baylor (129), Texas Tech (85), Iowa State (83) and Kansas (37).
