KNGL/KBBE radio of McPherson announced today that Jim Joyner has joined the stations’ broadcast team as the News and Sports Director. His appointment is effective immediately.

“Jim brings a wealth of sports and news experience to the Davies Communications stations. He will work closely with award-winning KNGL/KBBE Sports Editor Steve Sell on all sports programming,” owners Diane and Jerry Davies said.

A graduate of Baker University, Joyner worked as a sports announcer and talk show host from 2013 through 2016 at radio stations in Lawrence and Kansas City. In 2016, he announced the NAIA Men’s National Basketball Championship; Play-by-Play/Color Commentary with Tom Hedrick – Baker Basketball and Football, and Boys’ 6A State Tournament – Lawrence High School Basketball.

Joyner also wrote for the Baker newspaper and was responsible for content on Baker’s website and social media. He has earned several radio broadcast awards including the Kansas Association of Broadcasters Scholarship Award for 2015-16.

“I am looking forward to meeting everyone in KNGL/KBBE’s listening area and becoming the voice of the McPherson Bullpups,” Joyner said.

Misty Souder, a well-known KNGL/KBBE radio station personality, executive sales executive and production/advertising adviser, becomes Operations Manager effective immediately. “Misty has been with the stations for over a decade and her production/operations management experience will be invaluable in her new position,” Diane Davies said. “She will coordinate and manage sales, production, on air voice production and will work closely with Mark Ekeland, Music and Program Director.

“Mark becomes the stations’ Music and Program Director. He is the morning radio program DJ Monday through Friday. Well versed in the stations’ music, Mark works with Diane and Misty on programming and is there when bad weather occurs to guide everyone through the storms,” Jerry Davies said.

Rounding out the KNGL/KBBE team are Joe Johnston, station management duties and sales; Tom Stapleton, executive sales; Casey Spotted Elk, office manager, and Shawn White, engineer.
