For Derby High boys basketball coach Brett Flory, he must feel like he’s already experienced two Christmases.

It was recently reported that Valley Center basketball scoring machine Tyler Brown would be transferring to Derby to play for the Panthers.

Imagine Flory’s delight when he learned that 6-5 Goddard standout Bryant Mocaby revealed that he would be joining the Panthers as well. His family has moved into the Derby school district, which means he’ll be eligible immediately.

Between Brown and Mocaby, they combined to average nearly 50 points a game last year. Mocaby has scored 18.7 points a game during his career, putting up more than 1,200 points.

Derby will be coming to the Roundhouse Dec. 5 to take on the McPherson High.
