The Jazz at the J.O. concert with The Anna Jalkéus Jazz Group, presented in conjunction with Svensk Hyllningsfest, begins at 8:30 p.m. Friday, October 13.
The Anna Jalkéus Jazz Group uses elements from fusion, rock, 20th century art music and free playing. The group sound is strongly characterized by Anna's mesmerizing compositions and the fact that the front woman sings and plays pedal harp.
Award-winning jazz vocalist, harpist and composer Anna Jalkéus has already distinguished herself as one of the most unique voices of the up-and-coming generation of musicians. As a soloist she has performed in many places around the world such as China (2012 and 2013), a number of European countries and venues including the Stockholm Concert Hall, the 2013 Stockholm Jazz Festival and the Olympic arena Haakons Hall in Lillehammer, Norway, as well as several notable U.S. venues such as the Blue Room, Kansas City, and the Guggenheim Museum, NYC. She made her international debut at age 12, representing Sweden in the 2004Junior Eurovision Song Contest, which was broadcast in 20 European countries and viewed by 100 million people.
Doors open at 8:00 p.m. Tickets will be available atsvenskhyllningsfest.org and at the door. Tickets are $20 and people are encouraged to buy a table for 8 ($160) if they wish to reserve seating for family and friends. The J.O. Sundstrom Conference Center is located at 102 N. Main St.
