Apparently Central Christian College’s women’s soccer team is going to have to earn the respect of its new conference opponents.

The Tigers, who have had back-to-back outstanding seasons under coach Scott Fogarty, are picked to finish 10th of 11 teams in the Sooner Athletic Conference, which CCC has joined this year.

John Brown University, the defending SAC champion, was the No. 1 choice in the preseason poll announced on Saturday. The Golden Eagles received 10 of the 11 first place votes after finishing last season with an 18-2-1 record.

University of Science and Arts was picked second, with Texas Wesleyan third. Rounding out the Top 5 are Oklahoma City University and Mid-America Christian.

Wayland Baptist was sixth, followed by Southwestern Assemblies of God, Southwestern Christian, St. Gregory’s, Central Christian and Bacone.

The Tigers were 12-9-1 last season and a tremendous 20-6 in 2015.
