The excitement surrounding the McPherson High football program this season is boundless.

With a huge senior class leading a team that went 8-3 last year, all signs point toward a special season.

MHS fans wanting to get a sneak peek of the Bullpups can attend a scrimmage Saturday morning at McPherson Stadium. According to MHS coach Jace Pavlovich, the scrimmage will have an 8:30 a.m. start.

“We are looking to see who can execute their assignments,” Pavlovich said. “We have installed 75 percent of our offense and defense and we will look to see who we can count on in a couple of weeks. The first three days have been great. Our kids retained everything from the summer and we have improved on our execution.”

The scrimmage should last approximately 90 minutes, Pavlovich said.

The Bullpups, who are ranked No. 3 in Class 4A Division I by CatchItKansas, open the season Sept. 1 at No. 2-ranked Buhler, then play the following Friday at No. 4 Maize South.
