AURORA, Colo. — McPherson College’s women’s soccer team opened its season Saturday by running into a buzzsaw.
Saint Thomas University of Florida jumped on the Bulldogs right out of the chute and went on for a 9-1 victory.
The winners led 3-0 at the half and then the floodgates opened in the second half with a half-dozen goals.
Saint Thomas rattled off a 21-6 advantage in shots. Emma Van Donselaar had three shots for Mac and Alexis Lynn prevented the shutout when she scored on a corner kick by Lacy Fry with 10 minutes left in the game.
Mac will try to regroup on Monday when it plays at Johnson & Wales at 1 p.m.
