CONWAY SPRINGS — Three volleyball programs with strong traditions gathered on Tuesday in Conway Springs.
Conway Springs started the night with a 25-16, 25-14 win over Moundridge. Then nearby schools Hesston and Moundridge clashed, with the Swathers taking a 25-11, 25-10 decision. Hesston was a 25-14, 25-18 winner over Conway Springs in the finale.
“We were still feeling the effects of last Saturday’s tournament and were a little slow to respond at times, but overall passed the ball well, with just one receive error on the night,” said Hesston coach Jason Peters, whose team is now 7-1. “We get just one day off before another triangular on Thursday. This is always a tough stretch at the beginning of the season, but a good chance to get time on the court and see where we are at right now.”
Kailey Jo Ince had 19 kills on the night, while Alaina Dunlavy had 41 assists. Mia Loganbill had 6 aces. Ince had 15 digs and Loganbill added 13.
Hesston is home on Thursday against Trinity Catholic and Minneapolis.
Moundridge goes to Remington on Tuesday.
