Lexi Kite could be known as “Miss Double Double.”
For the third time in as many matches, McPherson College’s preseason All-KCAC selection posted doubles in kills (23) and digs (21) as the Bulldogs successfully opened conference play Wednesday with a 3-1 victory over Sterling.
The Bulldogs took the first two sets 25-16 and 25-20 before Sterling broke through for a 25-20 victory. But Mac came right back with a 25-22 triumph to delight the “Whiteout” crowd that packed the gym for the home opener.
Leia Seiler added 14 kills. Morgan Little had 23 assists and Kaitlyn Heines had 20, while Jamie Seiss had 21 and Rianne Richard chipped in with 13.
“Kite led the team offensively and defensively in a tough four-set win," Mac coach Jessica Cleveland said. "We flowed well as a team tonight. Defense and passing kept us in the game, giving hitters the flexibility to swing away. The crowd gave us energy in the close sets and long rallies."
The Bulldogs are off until Wednesday when they travel to Saint Mary. Match time is 7 p.m.
