JOPLIN, Mo.  — Central Christian College’s men’s soccer team did just about anything it wanted to on Saturday.

The Tigers evened their season record at 1-1 with a 9-0 rout of Ozark Christian College.

Central led 4-0 at the half and the goals just kept on coming in the second half.

Joshua Taylor and Gabrielle Flores pulled off a rarity as they were teammates with hat tricks. Also scoring for Central were Jayka Mapes, Lucas Braga and Matias Nunes. Braga also had a couple of assists. Landon Castello, Josh Dalton and Ethan Craig also notched assists.

Central Christian coach Aaron Hoxie said he was impressed with Ozark Christian with battling to the end even though the score was lopsided.

“I enjoyed watching this team compete,” he said. “For 90 minutes they ran hard, cheered for each other and played for the name on the front of the shirt. I truly can appreciate a squad that faces adversity correctly and wants to continue to get better despite their current situations."

Central is back home on Tuesday to take on Randall University. Game time is 7:00.
