It didn’t go well for Buhler in its football game on Friday against McPherson High, but the younger Crusaders eased some of that pain here Monday by sweeping the ninth-grade and JV games at McPherson Stadium before a large turnout of fans.
The Crusader freshmen led only 6-0 at the half, but erupted in the second half to capture a 27-12 victory.
The Bullpup scores came on a 9-yard run by Jayton Alexander and a 15-yard run by Aaron Powell. MHS did not convert after either score.
In the JV game, the Crusaders jumped on MHS with three first-quarter touchdowns, which served as the firestarter for a 42-14 victory.
It was 28-0 at the half.
The Bullpups scored twice in the fourth quarter, one on a 12-yard pass from Kaleb Hoppes to Keaten Stockham and the other a 1-yard run by Jakob Feil. Hoppes had a 2-point run.
MHS’ teams will be home on Monday to play Maize South.
