Central Christian College’s volleyball team opened conference play on Thursday with a 3-0 loss to Southwestern Christian at Alexander Arena.
The Tigers struggled offensively as the Eagles captured 25-18, 25-8 and 25-13 decisions. Southwestern Christian is off to a good start with a 7-2 record.
Kasi Kraus topped the Tigers in kill with 8, while Hannah Fredrickson contributed 14 assists. Desiree Padilla led in digs with 12, while Kraus and Kacie Platt had 10 apiece.
“Tonight we had some communication issues, which led to some out-of-character plays on our part,” said CCC coach Jeremy Manning, whose team is now 2-4. “That, in addition to us having a poor attacking night and making too many mistakes at the net, put us in a hole too deep to climb out of. We are looking to turn things around tomorrow (Friday) night against St Gregory’s.”
The match with St. Gregory’s has a 7 p.m. time at Alexander Arena. Originally the teams were supposed to play on Saturday, but was changed this week.
